Last weekend, my husband and I drove out to what was supposed to become our new home outside Raleigh.<\/p>\n
We hadn’t closed yet.<\/p>\n
We were just going to do one final walkthrough.<\/p>\n
But when we turned onto the street, I immediately noticed something strange.<\/p>\n
Three cars were already sitting in the driveway.<\/p>\n
My husband looked at me.<\/p>\n

I looked at him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat are you going to do?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNot me.\u201d<\/p>\n
He smiled.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next afternoon, we went to my mother-in-law’s house.<\/p>\n
She opened the door with the same cheerful smile.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, look who came to visit!\u201d<\/p>\n
My husband handed her an envelope.<\/p>\n
Her smile disappeared.<\/p>\n

Inside were copies of the purchase agreement, our attorney’s letter, and a written notice from the real estate agent.<\/p>\n
