But what caught my eye wasn’t just the bed arrangement; it was the attached expense report. He had billed the company for two rooms. They were going to share a bed and pocket the corporate per diem for the “second” room.<\/p>\n
I didn’t scream. I didn’t confront him. A screaming wife is easily dismissed as “crazy” or “paranoid.” A silent, calculating wife is dangerous.<\/p>\n
Instead, I took screenshots. I compiled the hotel confirmation, the fraudulent expense report, and a few heavily flirtatious texts I found in his deleted folder. Then, I created a dummy email address and scheduled a message to send directly to his company’s Head of HR and the CEO.<\/p>\n
The email simply read: > “As a concerned employee, I believe an audit into the upcoming Chicago trip expenses is necessary. Please review the attached discrepancies regarding corporate funds and inappropriate management-subordinate relations.”<\/p>\n

I had to cover the phone’s receiver to mask my laugh. I knew Sarah was ruthless\u2014she wanted that promotion more than she wanted him. Faced with corporate ruin, she played the victim perfectly, stepping right on his neck to reach the top rung of the ladder.<\/p>\n
“I was fired on the spot,” he cried. “They’re talking about pressing charges for embezzlement. She took her ticket and boarded the plane. She’s getting the promotion, and I’m coming home with nothing. I just wanted to say goodbye to my old life… I’m so sorry, baby. Thank God I still have you.”<\/p>\n
I walked out of the kitchen and into the living room, looking at the three large suitcases I had packed for him while he was in his Uber to the airport.<\/p>\n
“Actually, Mark,” I said, my voice dropping its sympathetic facade, turning ice-cold. “You don’t.”<\/p>\n
The line went dead silent.<\/p>\n
“I found the reservation on Tuesday,” I continued. “I sent the email to HR. And your bags are sitting on the front porch. I suggest you call an Uber, but don’t give them this address.”<\/p>\n
“Wait, you… you did this?” His voice shifted from devastation to pure shock.<\/p>\n
