My son came home smiling anyway, and I&#8217;ve never been prouder of him. \u2764\ufe0f"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine sending your sweet, 13-year-old autistic son to summer camp hoping he&#8217;ll make friends, build confidence, and create happy memories\u2014only to learn that he was bullied, robbed, told nobody liked him, and even threatened with violence.<\/p>\n<p>That was our reality this week.<\/p>\n<p>While he was at camp, other kids stole his money, took his paintball wristband, called him cruel names, and did everything they could to make him feel small.<\/p>\n<p>As a parent, hearing those details shattered my heart.<\/p>\n<p>No child should ever have to experience that.<\/p>\n<p>Especially not a child as kind, caring, and genuine as my son.<\/p>\n<p>What those kids didn&#8217;t know is who they were targeting.<\/p>\n<p>They didn&#8217;t see the young man who always tries to make others feel included.<\/p>\n<p>They didn&#8217;t see the young man who treats people with kindness even when they don&#8217;t return it.<\/p>\n<p>They didn&#8217;t see the young man whose heart is bigger than most people will ever understand.<\/p>\n<p>And they certainly didn&#8217;t realize how strong he truly is.<\/p>\n<p>Because despite everything that happened, my son came home smiling.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of focusing on the people who hurt him, he talked about the activities he enjoyed, the things he learned, and the moments that made him happy.<\/p>\n<p>Think about that.<\/p>\n<p>After being treated with cruelty, he still chose joy.<\/p>\n<p>After being hurt, he still chose kindness.<\/p>\n<p>After being targeted, he still focused on the good.<\/p>\n<p>That kind of strength can&#8217;t be taught.<\/p>\n<p>It comes from character.<\/p>\n<p>It comes from resilience.<\/p>\n<p>It comes from having a heart that refuses to become bitter.<\/p>\n<p>The people who bullied him thought they were making him feel weak.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, they revealed just how strong he is.<\/p>\n<p>Because strength isn&#8217;t making someone else feel small.<\/p>\n<p>Strength is refusing to let someone else&#8217;s cruelty change who you are.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s exactly what my son did.<\/p>\n<p>His spirit wasn&#8217;t broken.<\/p>\n<p>His smile wasn&#8217;t taken away.<\/p>\n<p>His kindness didn&#8217;t disappear.<\/p>\n<p>If anything, this experience reminded me just how remarkable he is.<\/p>\n<p>To my son:<\/p>\n<p>Never let anyone else&#8217;s ignorance determine your worth.<\/p>\n<p>Never let cruel words become your inner voice.<\/p>\n<p>You are smart.<\/p>\n<p>You are kind.<\/p>\n<p>You are brave.<\/p>\n<p>You are loved.<\/p>\n<p>And you are stronger than the people who tried to tear you down.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t be more proud of the young man you are becoming.<\/p>\n<p>For every person who chooses cruelty, there are countless others who will appreciate your kindness, celebrate your uniqueness, and love you exactly as you are.<\/p>\n<p>And I hope you never forget that. \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine sending your sweet, 13-year-old autistic son to summer camp hoping he&#8217;ll make friends, build confidence, and create happy memories\u2014only to learn that he was bullied, robbed, told nobody liked &hellip;
