  • After twenty-two years, I finally learned that Claire hadn’t simply walked away. She had tried to clear her name, find legal help, and reach me. She was afraid I would reject her because someone had convinced her I already had. The truth didn’t restore our lost years, but it ended the lie that had haunted them.
  • I thought the divorce papers had ended the story of my first marriage. I never imagined that a letter written three days after Claire vanished would reopen everything. The evidence led me to the friend I had trusted most—and revealed how fear and selfishness had destroyed two lives.
