A husband and wife were spending a quiet evening together on the couch, watching television after dinner.
Everything seemed perfectly normal.
Then the wife stood up and asked:
“I’m going to the kitchen. Do you want anything?”
Instead of giving a normal answer, her husband smirked and said:
“Yeah, grab me a soda… and while you’re up, maybe lose a little weight.”
The room instantly went silent.
For a moment, she just stared at him.
No yelling.
No arguing.
No dramatic reaction.
She simply smiled, turned around, and walked into the kitchen.
A few minutes later, she returned carrying a glass and placed it on the coffee table in front of him.
The husband looked confused.
Then he frowned.
“I asked for a soda.”
The wife sat down beside him with a sweet smile.
“Oh, I know.”
He pointed at the glass.
“Then what’s this?”
Without missing a beat, she replied:
“It’s diet water.”
“Diet water?”
“Yep.”
He looked even more confused.
“What’s that supposed to do?”
The wife leaned back comfortably and said:
“The same thing your comment was supposed to do.”
For a second, the husband just blinked.
Then it hit him.
The room exploded with laughter.
Even he couldn’t help laughing.
And from that day forward, he became much more careful about making smart remarks from the couch. π
